Barrister Bookcase in walnut

These modular bookcases were developed in the 17th and 18th centuries to protect valuable books from the elements. Barristers (English lawyers) required the use of many law books in various settings, and this specialised form of portable bookcase was developed to meet their needs. It consists of separate modular shelf units that may be stacked together to form a cabinet.
